2012 Reading Challenge on Goodreads

Well, after missing my Reading Challenge last year by only a couple books, I decided to give it a go again this year.  Unfortunately, I haven't been blogging much lately.  My goal is to blog more this year and actually reach my goal.  At the moment, I'm only at 15 of 50 books, which means I'm about 9 books behind.  I need to get a move on!  Look for some new blog posts soon!

Strife by Cate Tiernan

This is book #9 in the Wicca series. I began reading this series a few weeks ago. I found the first two volumes (books 1-3 and 4-6) on a clearance shelf and thought they looked intriguing, so home they went. I was surprised by how addictive the books were! To copy a friend's phrasing, it's like book crack. You know it's not the best literature out there but for some reason you just can't put it down (think Twilight).

These books definitely fit that bill. I can't just read a few pages and then go to sleep. I read for hours at a time. That said, there is nothing earth-shatteringly great about these books, but I am easily able to connect emotionally with Morgan, the main character.

I am just now on page 43 of 180ish, but I've unfortunately spoilered myself on Goodreads, so I know where we're headed. Hopefully the journey will be worth the effort, since I don't think I'll be very fond of the final destination.


Characters:

Morgan - 17, blood witch, fighting to choose between good and evil in her magick.

Hunter - Morgan's boyfriend, youngest member of the International Council of Witches, securely on the side of good.

Ciaran - Morgan's biological father, one of the most evil witches of his time.
